The battery of the iPod is made up of lithium polymer. This withstands the battery for more than 500 charging cycles. It means that when you recharge the iPod every alternative day, you will have the battery life for more than three years.

How to maintain the battery? It is necessary for you to recharge the battery once in two days. At any point of time, you should not leave the battery to die. That is, you should never allow the battery to go discharged completely. It is not a matter about the usage of your iPod, but it is a must for you to recharge it at least thrice a week.

When you play music album in your IPod, you should not switch from one track to another frequently. This will make the internal hard drive to spin faster and in turn weaken the battery power.

You can use MP3 or AAC files rather than WAV or AIFF music files. You can use any files that are supported by your iPod. Compressed or small size files will not drain the battery faster.
